Did you know Wellington once had a roaring speedway? Built in 1929, Kilbirnie’s motorbike races were a hit for a decade, with local hero Wally Kilmister and Irish champ Fay Taylour leading the way! The “Kilbirnie Speedway” roared from 1929 until 1939 – a petrolhead paradise in one of Wellington's most iconic suburbs. Vroom vroom! 🚀 (Any history buffs want to share more?)
