๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ Wellyโ€™s Time Machine โ€“ Days Bayโ€™s Wild Water Chute

In the early 1900s, Wellingtonians didnโ€™t need theme parks โ€“ they had Days Bay! Local entrepreneur John Williams turned the bay into a seaside resort, complete with a massive water chute that sent thrill-seekers zooming into a pond at 50 km/h. Flat-bottomed boats holding up to eight people would rocket down wooden rails, drenching delighted riders. On sunny weekends up to 5,000 people would ferry over from the city for a ride. While the chute is long gone, imagining our great-grandparents lining up for a white-knuckle splashdown shows Wellingtonโ€™s love of adventure is nothing new!
