Ever wondered about the history of the Old Bank Arcade site while grabbing a coffee? The corner of Lambton Quay & Customhouse Quay was home to the Bank of New Zealand from 1863, and the main heritage building was completed in 1901. Today it’s a beloved shopping destination keeping much of its Edwardian grandeur intact. Next time you’re there, look up at the ornate ceiling and imagine all the generations who have passed through.
